statement

I am interested in aftermath and the possibilities of an incomplete image. Rips, gaps, and erasures of the image interrupt linear time, linking somatic ruptures and histories together in queer and unknowable ways. The failure of a narrative image is evidence that an event occurred and cannot be forgotten. Pixels, or memory, are blown apart. What remains are visible fissures, stains, or cavities. Maybe these markers are holes that provide room for healing.
This project had me confront and reflect on my relationships with intimacy, trauma, grief, sex, and desire. Remembering is uncomfortable, and feeling is even more uncomfortable. I would rather wade through mud without acknowledging how the texture clings to my clothes, my skin, underneath my fingernails. And so, this project was an attempt to commit to the honest project of remembering, and, consequently, a commitment to the vulnerability of my humanity.

Photographs were produced under the teaching and advisement of Morrison Gong. Acknowledgment of gratitude and thanks to Morrison Gong and the cohort of Private Eros, hosted by the School of Making and Thinking, 2025.
