BOTOX PU$$Y

Video, IP

This video continues ongoing research questions I have regarding the historical and current-day “healthcare” system and how the patriarchy and medical industrial complex are intent on fucking women up from the inside. In the film, I share a recent story regarding a urology appointment and my process of questioning why botox is culturally and medically accepted for external female beauty, but discouraged when it could help with invisible, internal chronic pain. Uncovering the history of female medical treatment means facing cultural and historical legacies of racism, rape, and abuse. On one hand, the film questions how to thrive in a world where the patriarchy sticks objects inside women under the guise of care, desire, and healing. On the other hand, the film is about having chronic pelvic pain and my journey to get botox to alleviate disabling muscle spasms.
